Roofing and Restoration in Simpsonville, KY

Simpsonville was laid out in 1816 as a stop on the road between Louisville and Shelbyville, got its post office in 1821 and incorporated in 1833. It's named for Capt. John Simpson, a Shelby County lawyer and Speaker of the Kentucky House who was killed at the Battle of the River Raisin in the War of 1812. By 1825 it was a busy stagecoach town, and the Old Stone Inn, where stagecoach travelers once stopped, is still standing. For most of its history this was farm country, with dairy, tobacco, cattle and hogs, and the town calls itself the American Saddlebred Horse Capital of the World.

Simpsonville stayed a small village of a few hundred people for generations. When Interstate 64 was finished in 1965, the easy drive to Louisville brought new homes, factories, warehouses and shops, and the population grew from 220 in 1960 to 2,990 in 2020. Today the city includes Cardinal Club and Cardinal Club Estates along the golf course, Rolling Ridge Estates, Braxton Estates and other subdivisions, and new homes are still going up in the Villas at Cardinal Club. Farms and horse country surround it all.

Falls City Contracting is a veteran-owned, family-operated contractor in Louisville. Our crew works on houses, barns and outbuildings in Simpsonville, from the roof down to the chimney and brick.

Subdivision Homes, Farmhouses and Barns

Most Simpsonville homes were built in the decades since I-64 opened, and some of them still have the shingles that went on when the house was built. Loose granules in the gutters, curled or cracked shingles, popped nails and split rubber boots around vent pipes all point to a roof getting near the end of its life. If your subdivision has an HOA, we can give you the product name, color and spec sheet to include with your request.

Out on the farms, roofs come in every shape: older farmhouses with brick chimneys, metal-roofed barns, horse barns, sheds and detached garages. On older houses we look for what can be repaired before we talk about replacing anything, and a cracked chimney crown can usually be rebuilt without taking the rest of the chimney apart. On barns and outbuildings, we check for loose or missing panels, backed-out fasteners and rust before small problems let water in.

Open Country, High Wind and Farm Roofs

Open fields give wind a long run at Simpsonville roofs. During the March 3, 2023 windstorm, a Kentucky Mesonet station 3 miles west-southwest of Simpsonville measured a 65 mph gust. A year earlier, on April 13, 2022, a narrow EF-0 tornado touched down on Tatum Road in central Shelby County with winds near 80 mph. The National Weather Service found shingle damage to a small home, metal sheeting and roof panels torn from a large older barn, and the roof taken off a metal outbuilding.

If a storm opens up a house, barn or shed roof, our crew can tarp it to keep water out until it can be repaired. Once things settle, we'll inspect every roof on the property and document what we find with photos. If you decide to file an insurance claim, we can offer help navigating the claims process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you serve the areas around Simpsonville too?

Yes. We serve Simpsonville and nearby communities such as Shelbyville, Middletown and Louisville. Call and we'll confirm for your address.

  • Do you work on barn and outbuilding roofs?

Yes. We repair and replace roofs on barns, sheds, detached garages and other outbuildings, including metal roofs, and we can look at them during the same visit as your home.

  • Can you repair an older farmhouse roof instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Many older roofs only need damaged pieces replaced and flashing updated. We'll tell you plainly whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.

  • Should I have my roof checked after a storm even if I can't see damage?

It's a good idea. Lifted or creased shingles, loose metal panels and damaged flashing are hard to spot from the ground. A free inspection will tell you what, if anything, needs attention.

  • Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through Acorn Finance, and we can walk you through the options at your free inspection.
