Buckner, KY Roofing

Roofing and Restoration in Buckner, KY
Buckner started out as La Fayetteville, a farm settlement along Old Brownsboro Road. By 1826 it had a blacksmith, a church, a tavern and Overstreet's grocery. Around 1850, Mitchell R. Overstreet sold 10 acres to the Louisville and Frankfort Railroad, and the stop that grew up around the tracks became known as Buckner Station, after the Buckner family. By 1880 the town had two churches, two distilleries, a seminary and a grape-growing trade, and in 1886 John George Klein opened the first commercial winery in Oldham County here.
In the early 1900s the Louisville and Eastern electric interurban reached Buckner, hauling milk and cream from the area's dairy farms, and KY 146 was paved in 1929. Today Buckner is home to Oldham County High School and a Kroger on KY 393, and about 5,800 people lived in the Buckner area as of 2020. Neighborhoods like Heather Ridge and Grand Villa and newer patio homes now sit in the farm country Buckner grew up in.
Falls City Contracting is a veteran-owned, family-operated contractor in Louisville. Our crew works on houses, barns and outbuildings in Buckner, from the roof down to the chimney and brick.
Neighborhood Homes, Patio Homes and Farm Buildings
Buckner's roofs range from subdivision homes to patio homes to barns and sheds on farm properties. On neighborhood homes, valleys, step flashing and pipe boots are where we look first, since that's where wear tends to show up. Loose granules in the gutters, curled or cracked shingles, popped nails and split rubber boots around vent pipes all point to a roof getting near the end of its life. If your subdivision has an HOA, we can give you the product name, color and spec sheet to include with your request.
Where a patio home shares a roofline with a neighbor, a repair or replacement has to tie in cleanly where one roof meets the next. If your home has a brick chimney, a cracked crown can usually be rebuilt without taking the rest of the chimney apart, and where water piles up behind a wide chimney, a cricket sends it around instead of into the roof. On barns and outbuildings, we check for loose or missing metal panels, backed-out fasteners and rust.

The April 2024 Buckner Tornado
Buckner saw serious storm damage not long ago. On the evening of April 2, 2024, an EF-2 tornado with peak winds near 115 mph touched down north of Buckner near New Cut Road. It stayed on the ground for more than five miles and was up to 300 yards wide. The National Weather Service followed the worst of the damage into the Heather Ridge and Grand Villa neighborhoods and east of Oldham County High School.
If a storm opens up a house, barn or shed roof, our crew can tarp it to keep water out until it can be repaired. Once things settle, we'll inspect every roof on the property and document what we find with photos. If you decide to file an insurance claim, we can offer help navigating the claims process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you serve the areas around Buckner too?
Yes. We serve Buckner along with La Grange, Crestwood, Goshen, Pewee Valley and the rest of Oldham County. Call and we'll confirm for your address.
Do you work on barn and outbuilding roofs?
Yes. We repair and replace roofs on barns, sheds, detached garages and other outbuildings, including metal roofs, and we can look at them during the same visit as your home.
Do you work on patio homes?
Yes. If your patio home shares a roofline with a neighbor, we'll look at where the two roofs meet and make sure the repair or new roof ties in cleanly. If your association takes care of exterior work, we'll give them the product details they need.
Should I have my roof checked after a storm even if I can't see damage?
It's a good idea. Lifted or creased shingles, loose metal panels and damaged flashing are hard to spot from the ground. A free inspection will tell you what, if anything, needs attention.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer financing through Acorn Finance, and we can walk you through the options at your free inspection.
