Roofing and Restoration in Campbellsburg, KY

Campbellsburg was incorporated in 1840 as Chiltonsville, but within three weeks the name was changed to honor the local Campbell family, and the Benevola post office soon took the new name too. When the Louisville, Cincinnati and Lexington Railroad arrived in 1869, the town split into "Old" and "New" Campbellsburg. New Campbellsburg was incorporated on its own, and the two kept growing until they merged into the town you see today.

Campbellsburg is a small town, with 836 residents in 2020. US 421 serves as Main Street, and Interstate 71 is less than two miles away at Exit 34. Kentucky State Police Post 5 is based here. The city says it is proud of its work to preserve its historic buildings and rural heritage.

Falls City Contracting is a veteran-owned, family-operated contractor in Louisville. Our crew works on houses, barns and outbuildings in Campbellsburg, from the roof down to the chimney and brick.

Homes in Town and Roofs on the Farm

A property out here can have a lot of roofs: the house, a detached garage, a barn or two and a few sheds. On houses, we look closely at the valleys, the step flashing where a roof meets a wall and the boots around vent pipes, since that's where wear tends to show up first. Loose granules in the gutters, curled or cracked shingles, popped nails and split rubber boots around vent pipes all point to a roof getting near the end of its life. On older houses we look for what can be repaired before we talk about replacing anything.

If your home has a brick chimney, a cracked crown can usually be rebuilt without taking the rest of the chimney apart, and tuckpointing restores worn mortar joints. Where water piles up behind a wide chimney, a cricket sends it around instead of into the roof. On barns and outbuildings, we check for loose or missing metal panels, backed-out fasteners and rust before small problems let water in.

Tornadoes Around Campbellsburg

Campbellsburg has been hit hard before. On April 1, 1974, an F3 tornado tore through the business district, leaving about 100 of the town's 500 residents homeless and destroying or damaging 19 homes and 23 businesses. The business district was rebuilt. On March 1, 2017, an EF-1 tornado touched down two miles north of Campbellsburg and crossed I-71. On Jones Lane, 100 mph winds destroyed two large barns along with small outbuildings and demolished a large grain bin.

If a storm opens up a house, barn or shed roof, our crew can tarp it to keep water out until it can be repaired. Once things settle, we'll inspect every roof on the property and document what we find with photos. If you decide to file an insurance claim, we can offer help navigating the claims process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you serve the areas around Campbellsburg too?

Yes. We serve Campbellsburg and nearby Henry County communities, as well as La Grange, Crestwood and Louisville. Call and we'll confirm for your address.

  • Do you work on barn and outbuilding roofs?

Yes. We repair and replace roofs on barns, sheds, detached garages and other outbuildings, including metal roofs, and we can look at them during the same visit as your home.

  • What should I do if a storm damages my barn roof?

Keep people and animals clear of the damaged area and call us. Our crew can tarp the roof to keep water out, then we'll inspect it and document what we find with photos.

  • Should I have my roof checked after a storm even if I can't see damage?

It's a good idea. Lifted or creased shingles, loose metal panels and damaged flashing are hard to spot from the ground. A free inspection will tell you what, if anything, needs attention.

  • Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through Acorn Finance, and we can walk you through the options at your free inspection.
