Prospect, KY Roofing

Roofing and Restoration in Prospect, KY
Prospect started out as a rail stop called Sand Hill. It took its name from the Prospect station built in the 1870s and became a city in 1974. Today it runs along US 42 in northeast Jefferson County and into Oldham County, with Harrods Creek and the Ohio River close by.
Most of Prospect is single-family neighborhoods. Hunting Creek, the city's first subdivision, wraps around Hunting Creek Country Club with homes from the late 1960s through the 1990s. Fox Harbor sits on higher, wooded ground with homes mostly from the 1970s and 1980s. Bridgepointe and The Landings filled in during the late 1980s and 1990s, and Sutherland and Innisbrook are newer still, with some Sutherland homes built since 2021.
Falls City Contracting is a veteran-owned, family-operated contractor in Louisville. Our crew takes care of roof replacement and repair, chimney and masonry work, gutters and siding for Prospect homeowners.
Bigger Homes, More Complicated Roofs
A lot of Prospect homes have steep pitches, several gables and dormers, long valleys and tall brick chimneys. Every one of those transitions has to be flashed correctly, and that's where most leaks on these houses start. When we trace a leak, we check the valleys, wall step flashing, skylights and chimney flashing before we blame the shingles.
Roofs here include architectural and designer shingles, metal accents over porches and bay windows, and some slate. We repair and install all three, and we'll tell you plainly when a repair makes more sense than a replacement. Most Prospect neighborhoods have an HOA, so we can give you the product name, color and spec sheet to include with your request.

Trees, River Wind and Storms
Mature trees are a big part of what makes Fox Harbor and Hunting Creek feel the way they do, but they drop limbs in high wind and fill gutters and valleys with leaves that hold moisture against the shingles. Homes on higher ground toward the river can also catch more wind when storms come through. During the March 3, 2023 windstorm, gusts of 79 mph were measured at Bowman Field and Louisville's airport, and trees and power lines came down across the region.
If a limb comes through the roof, our crew can tarp it to keep water out until it can be repaired. Once things calm down, we'll inspect the roof and document what we find with photos. If you decide to file an insurance claim, we can offer help navigating the claims process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work in Norton Commons and nearby parts of Oldham County?
Yes. We serve Norton Commons as well as Prospect and the nearby parts of Oldham County. Call and we'll confirm for your address.
Can you match my designer shingles for a repair?
Often, but not always. Some product lines and colors are discontinued, and new shingles can look different from weathered ones. We'll show you the closest match before any work starts.
Water and leaves collect behind our wide chimney. What fixes that?
A chimney cricket. It's a small peaked section built on the uphill side of the chimney that splits the water and sends it around. We often pair it with new flashing or a crown rebuild.
Do I need HOA approval for a new roof?
Many Prospect HOAs ask for it, especially if the color or material changes. Check your HOA's rules first, and we'll provide the product details they ask for.
How do you protect landscaping on a big job?
We plan where materials and the dumpster will go before work starts, and we keep a clean, organized jobsite from start to finish.
