Roofing and Restoration in Lake Forest, KY

Lake Forest is a large planned community in eastern Louisville, a deed-restricted neighborhood of more than 2,000 acres between Shelbyville Road and Old Henry Road, with North Beckley Station Road on the east and the Gene Snyder Freeway on the west. It was laid out around an 18-hole, par-72 golf course designed by Arnold Palmer at the private Lake Forest Country Club, along with seven lakes and a walking path along Beckley Bridge.

Homes have gone up here from 1984 to the present, built in six phases, and the community now counts more than 1,750 of them. Most are traditional houses with brick exteriors. The original front section is mostly two-story Colonials, while homes built since 1995 are often story-and-a-half designs with a first-floor primary suite. There are estate sections and the Legacy patio homes, on lots that run from about a third of an acre to an acre.

Falls City Contracting is a veteran-owned, family-operated contractor in Louisville. Our crew takes on roof replacement and repair, chimney and masonry work, gutters and siding for Lake Forest homeowners.

Big Brick Homes and Steep Roofs

Two-story homes in Lake Forest are built with steep roofs, since the community's guidelines call for a pitch of at least 7:12 on homes with more than one story. On a steep roof with dormers, gables and valleys, the valleys, step flashing along second-story walls and the boots around vent pipes are where we look first when we trace a leak. On any roof here, loose granules in the gutters, curled or cracked shingles and popped nails all point to a roof getting near the end of its life.

When we install or reroute gutters here, we make sure the downspouts don't run into the sanitary sewer, as the community's guidelines require.

Lakes, Mature Trees and High Wind

Mature trees surround the lakes and the golf course here, and that shade comes with limbs and heavy leaf fall over the roof and gutters. Open water and fairways also leave some homes exposed when strong wind crosses the area. On March 3, 2023, a windstorm brought gusts of 60 to 80 mph across the Lower Ohio Valley, including a 79 mph gust at Louisville's Bowman Field, and the National Weather Service reported widespread damage and power outages.

If wind or a falling limb opens up the roof, our crew can tarp it to keep water out until it can be repaired. Once the weather clears, we'll inspect the roof and document what we find with photos. If you decide to file an insurance claim, we can offer help navigating the claims process.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you serve the areas around Lake Forest too?

Yes. We serve every section of Lake Forest, along with Middletown, Douglass Hills, Anchorage and the rest of eastern Louisville. Call and we'll confirm for your address.

  • Can you repair my roof instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. If the damage is limited to one area, a repair may be all you need. At your free inspection we'll tell you honestly whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.

  • Can you match the look of the other homes on my street?

Yes. We'll bring samples of shingle styles and colors to your free inspection, so you can pick one that suits your brick and fits in with the neighborhood.

  • Should I have my roof checked after a storm even if I can't see damage?

It's a good idea. Lifted or creased shingles and loose flashing are hard to spot from the ground, especially on a steep two-story roof. A free inspection will tell you what, if anything, needs attention.

  • Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through Acorn Finance, and we can walk you through the options at your free inspection.
